I started following hockey in college. An old roommate of mine was from the Detroit area, so was obviously a Redwings fan. Prior to that, I didn't think hockey was a real sport, that it was nothing but a bunch of losers with sticks and skates who couldn't hack it in a real sport. Boy, was I wrong! I began watching it a lot with my roommate, and became a Penguins fan. My favorite player from day one was Jagr, and he continues to be my favorite to this day. I started following the Caps after Jagr's trade, and I have since followed him to the Big Apple.

For several years, I collected any and all Jagr cards, along with other miscellaneous items (his autobiography, Czech jerseys, etc.). With the rise of the memorabilia craze, I realized pretty quickly that jersey swatches and pieces of skates and sticks were far more fun to collect. I started then collecting only Jagr memorabilia and autographs. I still buy the occasional box, and usually decide that I'll build the set. This comprises the need list for my sets.

Over the past few months I've decided to just concentrate on his autograph cards, HSHS prizes, and some nicer patches. You gotta have limits!
